The best meditation apps for busy professionals

If you’re looking to incorporate some relaxation into your day-to-day schedule, downloading a meditation app is a great idea.

The only downside is there’s a heap of meditation apps on the market – it’s a little tricky to find one first go that’ll be everything you want and more.

That’s why we’ve gone ahead and done the hard yards for ya. Take a look at our favourite meditation apps; there’s gonna be at least one that’ll float your boat.

The best meditation apps for busy professionals

We’ve looked at a variety of different meditation apps; free ones, paid ones, guided meditations and simple relaxing background noise meditations.

Read on for the full breakdown of our favourite meditation apps including Buddhify, Headspace, Smiling Mind, Insight Timer, Simple Habit and Guided Mind. We’ve made sure to include pricing and an overall star rating (out of five) to help you in your decision-making process.

Buddhify

PRICING: $40 per year

OVERALL RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Designed to fit into a busy, modern lifestyle, Buddhify offers meditation sequences for a variety of situations. Whether you’ve opened the app and want help going to sleep, or you’re at work and need a quick break, Buddhify will work for you.

You can subscribe to a Buddhify membership for $40 a year (AUD). If you were looking for some free meditation apps, keep on scrolling.

Headspace

PRICING: $95 per year

OVERALL RATING: ⭐⭐⭐

Headspace is a well-known brand that offers a meditation app with a focus on mental health. The guided meditations in this app include a couple of basic courses with a lot of visualisation work.

Smiling Mind

PRICING: FREE

OVERALL RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Through the Smiling Mind app, you can build the habit of meditation through their dedicated programs for adults and workplaces. They have a variety of meditation programs that focus on areas like stress, sleep, performance, attention as well as mindful eating and even relationships. This is one of my personal favourite meditation apps, just sayin’.

At Pragmatic Thinking, we’re pretty fond of the efforts Smiling Mind has gone to for aboriginal communities. In April 2019, the app collaborated with the Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Women’s Council (NPYWC) to develop a meditation program that incorporates Aboriginal language and culture. The app provides accessible and engaging tools for the 28 Aboriginal communities in the cross-border region of Northern Territory, South Australia and Western Australia.

Insight Timer

PRICING: FREE

OVERALL RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This app offers the largest free library of guided meditations (30,000+), and it also happens to be completely free. It’s a win-win.

If however, you do want to get your hands on more advanced features like Night Mode, Offline Listening or some of their 10 and 30-day courses you can upgrade to a paid subscription for $5 a month (USD).

Simple Habit Meditation

PRICING: FREE

OVERALL RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

With over 2,000+ guided meditations available, Simple Habit Meditation has a heap of relaxing sequences to choose from. If you want to explore some other ideas to help reset your focus during a stressful moment at work, take a look at this blog we prepared earlier.

Guided Mind

PRICING: FREE

OVERALL RATING: ⭐⭐⭐

Through the Guided Mind meditation app you can choose from a variety of topics including affirmations, awareness, business and even career-focused meditations.

The main downside of this app is that the majority of the meditations are ‘locked’, so you will need to purchase the meditation sequences individually which can get pricy. On the plus side, you can preview the premium meditations before you buy.

Did you find a meditation app to suit your lifestyle? I’m crossing all my fingers and toes that you’ve found the perfect meditation app to incorporate into your daily routine.
